Alea Sea Salt comes from Hawaii, where it was once used only in religious rituals by the native inhabitants of these islands. This salt is a mixture of sea salt and Hawaiian Red Alaea, the legendary medicinal clay laden with healthful benefits. The red clay rich in iron oxide imparts the salt its russet color and earthy mineral flavor.
